The 30 Day Expermiment

In the past few days, we’ve started an experiment in our home (like we need more things going on right now). We’re completely changing our diet, which has been my motivation to get this blog going again. When mentioning that I was doing this, someone (*cough” Lauren) expressed interest in knowing how it all pans out, financially, health wise, etc., so this is my answer for that. :)

My goal is to post (at least)  daily on what we’re eating, what we’re not eating, how we feel, how much we spend, etc. I really don’t know how this will all turn out, but it should be interesting. I know that not everyone will agree with what we’re doing, and that’s ok. This isn’t really the place for that. I’m not advertising or saying that “This is the way!!!”. I’m just reporting on what we’re doing.

Our goal is to get our health back in line. We’ve both put on a few pounds in the 6 months we’ve been back in the US, so loosing that (and more??) wouldn’t hurt us, either. After reading a number of things and thinking through our issues, this is what we’ve decided:

  • No dairy (occasionally using almond milk)
  • No processed sugar (switching to Stevia for some things, and using natural raw honey for other things)
  • Drastically cutting back on wheat (not quite going 100% gluten-free, but big changes)
  • Drinking only water (other than morning tea – though Chris is holding on to his 100% Juice – no sugar added Pink Grapefruit juice)
  • Protein in every meal
  • Not avoiding fats, but only using natural fats

Our hope is to see:

  • Better health
  • Increased energy
  • Fewer digestive problems
  • Loss of weight

Today is Day 3, so I’ll backtrack and post what we’ve already eaten.
